The Sultanate of Oman's total refineries output recorded a growth of 1.3% by the end of May 2025, while the production of motor fuels in May 2025 rose by 10.7% compared to the previous month, according to preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The statistics show that, the production of Regular Motor Fuel (91) rose by 10.7%, reaching 7.393 million barrels by the end of May 2025, compared to 6,677.3 million barrels in the same period of 2024. Its sales increased by 2.2% to 5,804.2 million barrels, compared to 5,679.4 million barrels by the end of May 2024, while its exports by end of May 2025 declined by 5.7% to 1.234 million barrels compared to 1,309.3 million barrels by the same period in 2024.
The Super Motor Fuel (95) production declined slightly by 1.2%, reaching 5,333.1 million barrels compared to 5,400.5 million barrels in the same period of 2024. However, its sales rose by 1.3% to 5,380.6 million barrels by the end of May 2025, compared to 5,309.5 million barrels at the end of May 2024.
The exports of the same Super Motor Fuel (95) by the end of May 2025 recorded a significant growth of 20.6% to 690,700 barrels, compared to 572,800 barrels in the same period in 2024.
The statistics also show that, gas oil (diesel) production rose by 3.4%, reaching 13.667 million barrels by the end of May 2025, compared to 13,211.5 million barrels at the end of May 2024. Its sales increased by 5.3% to 5,988.9 million barrels, compared to 5,688.6 million barrels at the end of May 2024, while its exports by end of May 2025 dropped by 12.5% to 6,680.7 million barrels, down from 7,635.1 million barrels at the end of May 2024.
Jet fuel production declined by 14%, recording 4,145.2 million barrels compared to 4.820 million barrels. Its sales dropped by 9.1% to 1,515.1 million barrels by the end of May 2025, compared to 1,666.5 million barrels at the same period in 2024, while its exports fell by 15.6% to 2,447.5 million barrels, compared to 2.898 million barrels at the same period in 2024.
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) production increased slightly by 0.3% to 3,192.2 million barrels by end of May 2025, compared to 3,181.4 million barrels in the same period of 2024. LPG sales rose significantly by 20.8% to 1,628.2 million barrels, up from 1,347.5 million barrels. However, its exports fell sharply by 53.6%, reaching 109,900 barrels by end of May 2025, compared to 237,000 barrels at the end of May 2024.
As for the petrochemicals sector, the statistics show that, the gasoline production rose by 8.5% by the end of May 2025, reaching 74,300 thousand metric tons, compared to 68,500 metric tons. Paraxylene production increased by 3.1% to 224,100 thousand metric tons, up from 217,300 metric tons. Polypropylene production surged by 47.4%, reaching 148,000 metric tons, compared to 100,400 metric tons, at the end of May 2024. However, polypropylene sales dropped by 8.4%, to 13,700 thousand metric tons, by end of May 2025, compared to 15,000 thousand metric tons at the end of May 2024.
In terms of exports, the Gasoline exports increased by 5.9%, reaching 72,700 thousand metric tons by end of May 2025, compared to 68,600 metric tons in the same period in 2024. Paraxylene exports rose by 15.3% to 253,200 metric tons, up from 219,600 metric tons, while polypropylene exports jumped by 44.6% to 109,900 thousand metric tons by end of May 2025, compared to 76,000 thousand metric tons at the same period in 2024.
