The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, is implementing a public opinion survey targeting Omani citizens seeking employment.

The survey is being carried out from July 7 to 10, with the aim of collecting accurate data to support the improvement of effective policies addressing employment challenges in the Sultanate of Oman.

The survey focuses on understanding job search behaviours and the obstacles faced by job seekers, including family and health conditions, as well as attitudes toward self-employment and other activities.

The survey's questionnaire also includes detailed questions related to training and acquired skills, in order to identify gaps between individual competencies and labour market requirements, while it gathers information on the type, duration, funding, and impact of training.

 Mahfoodh bin Salim Al-Mashrafi, Director of the Public Opinion Measurement Department at NCSI, affirmed that the questionnaire was designed in accordance with the standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO). It complements existing labour force surveys and provides a more accurate analysis of job seekers' experiences, as well as offers actionable insights for policymakers.

He clarified that, the data is being collected via phone interviews using a computer-assisted telephone interviewing system (CATI), through the NCSI call centre phone number: 24219000, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily.

The Director of the Public Opinion Measurement Department emphasized that all data collected is being treated with strict confidentiality, in accordance with Royal Decree No. 55/2019, and is used solely for statistical purposes in aggregate form.

The survey considered as part of the NCSI's ongoing efforts to monitor public opinion trends and provide reliable indicators to support informed decision-making.
