The total electricity generation in the Sultanate of Oman recorded a notable increase of 11% by the end of April 2025, reaching 13,479.8 GWh, compared to 12,142.3 GWh during the same period in 2024, according to preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Muscat Governorate recorded the highest growth rate in electricity generation at 195.9%, reaching 93.9 GWh, while the Governorates of North and South Al -Sharqiyah saw a 2.8% increase of electricity generation, reaching 2,659.6 GWh, and the generation in Musandam Governorate rose by 16.6% to 128.2 GWh.
Meanwhile, the total electricity generation in the North and South Al Batinah and Al-Dhahirah Governorates reached about 7,970.9 GWh, recording an increase of 5.7%, compared to the same period last year.
However, Dhofar Governorate saw a 4.5% decline in electricity generation, reaching 1,699.1 GWh, while Al- Wusta Governorate recorded a 3.2% decrease, recording generation of 42.3 GWh.
The statistics also indicated a rise in net electricity generation in the Sultanate of Oman, which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company by region, increasing by 11.5% to reach 13,103.7 GWh by the end of April 2025, compared to 11,748.5 GWh during the same period in 2024.
On the other hand, the volume of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman recorded a slight decrease of 0.6% by the end of April 2025, reaching approximately 162.364 million cubic meters, compared to 163.309 million cubic meters during the same period in 2024.
