The inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 0.9% in April 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, with the base year 2018, according to data from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
According to the data, there was an increase in prices for miscellaneous goods and services groups by 7.0%, followed by the health group by 3.2%, and the transportation group by 3.1%. The restaurants and hotels group by 1.5%, clothing and footwear group by 0.6%, recreation and culture group by 0.3%, and education group by 0.1%.
Meanwhile, the food and non-alcoholic beverages group fell by 0.3%, and furnishing, household equipment, and routine household maintenance group by 0.1%. Meanwhile, prices for housing, water, electricity, gas, other fuels group, communications group, and tobacco group remained stable.
In the food and non-alcoholic beverages group, other food products group rose by 3.5%, while both the sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and candy and the milk, cheese, and eggs group recorded an increase of 3.1%. Oils and fats group by 1.1%, followed fruits by 0.7%, and meat group with increase of 0.1%.
On the other hand, the vegetable group recorded the most significant decline, with prices falling by 6.1%, followed by a 3.0% decrease in the fish and seafood group. Prices for cereals and bread dropped by 0.7%, while the non-alcoholic beverages group saw a slight decline of 0.1%.
The data revealed that Ad Dakhliyah Governorate recorded the highest inflation rate among the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman by the end of April 2025, compared to the same period in the previous year, with an increase of 1.8%.
Musandam Governorate followed with an inflation rate of 1.5%, while Ash Sharqiah South and Adh Dhahirah governorates recorded an equal rise of 1.3%. Muscat, Al Buraymi, and Al Wusta governorates each registered an inflation rate of 0.9%.
Meanwhile, Dhofar Governorate saw a 0.6% increase in its inflation index, followed by Al Batinah North at 0.5%, and Ash Sharqiah North at 0.4%.
In contrast, Al Batinah South was the only governorate to record a decline in inflation, with the index falling by 0.1%.
