The inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 0.6% in March 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, with the base year 2018, according to data from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
According to the data, there was an increase in prices for miscellaneous goods and services groups by 6.1%, health group by 3.2%, transportation group by 1.7%, restaurants and hotels group by 0.7%, clothing and footwear group by 0.5%, recreation and culture group by 0.3%, furnishing, household equipment, and routine household maintenance group by 0.3% and education group by 0.1%. Meanwhile, food and non-alcoholic beverages group fell by 0.7% and the prices for housing, water, electricity, gas, other fuels group, communications group, and tobacco group remained stable.
In the food and non-alcoholic beverages group, fruits rose by 5.1%, other food products group by 3.9%, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and candy group by 3.2%, milk, cheese, and eggs prices group by 3%, oils and fats group by 1.1%.
The prices of vegetable group fell by 10.2%, fish and seafood group by 7%, meat group by 0.6%, and those of cereals and bread by 0.2%,
The data revealed that Al Dakhiliyah and Musandam governorates recorded the highest inflation rates in the Sultanate by the end of March 2025, with an increase of 1.4%. South Al Sharqiyah followed with an inflation rate of 0.9%, while Al Dhahirah recorded 0.8%. Both Muscat and Dhofar governorates posted equal inflation rates of 0.6%, whereas Al Wusta and Al Buraimi saw a rise of 0.5%.
Meanwhile, North Al Batinah experienced a slight increase of 0.1%. In contrast, both South Al Batinah and North Al Sharqiyah recorded a decline in inflation, each with a decrease of 0.3%.
