The Sultanate of Oman's production of refineries and petrochemicals recorded a decrease of 1.8% till the end of June 2024 compared to the corresponding period in 2023, according to preliminary statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The production of regular gasoline (M-91) fell by 9.5% by the end of June 2024, and its sales fell by 3.2%. Meanwhile, paraxylene and benzene products recorded an increase in production, with a growth rate of 4.6% and 6.5%, respectively.

The statistics indicate that the production of regular gasoline (M-91) reached 7,479,100 barrels by the end of June 2024, with sales amounting to 6,827,400 barrels.

The production of premium gasoline (M-95) rose by 9.8%, reaching 6,559,500 barrels, and its sales increased to 6,412,700 barrels.

The production of diesel fuel (gas oil) fell by 6.2%, reaching 16,085,400 barrels, with sales amounting to 6,815,000 barrels. Furthermore, the production of jet fuel increased by 2.3%, totaling 5,622,000 barrels, with sales of 1,995,200 barrels. The production of liquefied petroleum gas also rose by 9.5%, reaching 4,484,900 barrels.

Regarding petrochemicals, the production of benzene increased by 6.5%, reaching 83,500 metric tonnes, while the production of paraxylene reached 265,100 metric tonnes, representing 4.6%. The production of polypropylene dropped by 23.7%, amounting to 101,800 metric tonnes.

Oman's exports of gasoline (M-91) rose by 16.2% to reach 1,410,700 barrels, and the exports of premium gasoline (M-95) rose by 53.5%.

The exports of diesel fuel (gas oil) reached 9,058,200 barrels, and the exports of jet fuel reached 3,605,000 barrels. Additionally, the exports of liquefied petroleum gas reached 280,600 barrels.

The exports of paraxylene amounted to 254,700 metric tonnes, and the exports of benzene and polypropylene reached 81,500 metric tonnes and 81,200 metric tonnes, respectively.
