The Sultanate of Oman's production of refineries and petrochemicals recorded a decrease of 2.2% by the end of February 2024 compared to the corresponding period in 2023, according to preliminary statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The production of regular gasoline (M-91) fell by 16% by the end of February 2024, while its sales remained stable. Meanwhile, paraxylene and benzene products recorded an increase in exports, with a growth rate of 22% and 31%, respectively.
The statistics indicate that the production of regular gasoline (M-91) reached 2,386.0 barrels by the end of February 2024, with sales amounting to 2,231.3 barrels.
The production of premium gasoline (M-95) rose by 25%, reaching 2,214.6 barrels, and its sales increased to 2,047.7 barrels.
The production of diesel fuel (gas oil) fell by 17%, reaching 4,588.7 barrels, with sales amounting to 2,252.5 barrels. Furthermore, the production of jet fuel increased by 36%, totaling 2,102.6 barrels, with sales of 742.9 barrels. The production of liquefied petroleum gas also rose by 10%, reaching 1,409.3 barrels.
Regarding petrochemicals, the production of benzene increased by 22%, reaching 28.4 metric tonnes, while the production of paraxylene reached 100.1 metric tonnes, representing 31%. The production of polypropylene dropped by 6%, amounting to 38.3 metric tonnes.
Meanwhile, Oman's exports of gasoline (M-91) fell by 13% to reach 505.8 barrels, while the exports of premium gasoline (M-95) rose by 691%.
The exports of diesel fuel (gas oil) reached 2,128.2 barrels, and the exports of jet fuel reached 1,338.4 barrels. Additionally, the exports of liquefied petroleum gas reached 147.6 barrels.
The exports of paraxylene amounted to 102.4 metric tonnes, while the exports of benzene and polypropylene fell by reached 25.2 metric tonnes.
