The Sultanate of Oman’s production of electricity increased by 1.6 percent till the end of June 2022 to reach 20,100 GW per hour, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The Governorate of Dhofar recorded a rise in electricity production by 9.2 percent, to reach 2,100 GW per hour. The governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and A’Dhahirah recorded an increase in total electricity production by 6.5 percent to reach 12,925 GW per hour.
Oman’s net production of electricity till the end of June 2022 went up 1.7 percent to reach 19,478 GW per hour. The net figures are inclusive of purchases by Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) and the Rural Areas Electricity Company (RAEC).
The highest volume of net electricity production was recorded by the Governorate of Dhofar, which surged by 9.5 percent to reach 1,999 GW per hour. The governorates of North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and A’Dhahirah recorded a rise by 6.8 percent to reach 12,512 GW per hour.
Meanwhile, water production in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 6 percent to reach 251,709,600 cubic metres by June 2022.
The governorates of Dhofar and Muscat recorded a rise by 8.9 percent and 8.5 percent in water production, respectively, during the same period in 2021.
