The Sultanate's total fixed internet subscriptions increased by 13.5% to reach 514,512 at the end of April 2021, compared to the same period of 2020.
Fixed telephone lines rose by 0.8% to 593,802 at the end of April 2021, according to the latest data released by the National Centre for
Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Analogue fixed telephones comprised 292,768 subscribers whereas the number of fixed telephones connected to the internet reached 244,953.
Digital network lines for integrated services declined by 4.8% to reach 47,971 subscriptions. The number of fixed wireless subscriptions went down by 16.8% to 1,309.
The total number of mobile subscriptions fell by 3.3% to 6,031,325 million until the end of April 2021. Prepaid mobile connections fell by 9.3% to 4,915,485 million. Out of those, the number of subscribers
in service operators stood at 3,904,632 million, and the number of subscribers in resellers stood at 1,010,853 million.
Fixed broadband internet connections, which have more than 256 kilobytes speed, increased by 4.6% to reach 512,466 compared to the same period in the previous year. The number of low-speed internet
connections, which have less than 256 kilobytes speed, increased by 1.1% to reach 2,046 subscriptions.
The number of active mobile broadband subscribers reached 5,107,856 million until the end of April 2021. The international internet capacity rose by 29.5% to reach 1,441,777 million megabytes.
The number of national leased lines reached 6,456, while the number of telex lines stabilized at 116 subscriptions till the end of April 2021.
