The Sultanate's refineries recorded an increase in the production of automobile fuel by 1.8% during February 2021, compared to February 2020, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The Sultanate's production of standard grade petrol (M-91) by Omani refineries stood at 1,676,700 barrels, comprising a decline by 20% until the end of February 2021, compared to the same period in 2020. Domestic sales of petrol (M-91) stood at 1,323,300 barrels whereas its exports reached 366,100 barrels, a decline by 71%, compared to February 2020.
The output of super grade petrol (M-95) reached 2,680,700 barrels until the end of February 2021, an increase by 22%, compared to February 2020, which stood at 2,195,200 barrels.
Of the total production, domestic sales of petrol (M-95) stood at 2,234,400 barrels, a rise by 6% while its exports stood at 534,400 barrels, comprising a surge by 891%, compared to the end of February 2020.
Gas oil (diesel) output soared by 37% to 6,563,300 barrels. Domestic sales of diesel stood at 2,068,000, a drop by 8% whereas its exports reached 4,483,500, an increase by 58%, compared to February 2020.
Aviation fuel oil production fell by 62% to 925,200 barrels at the end of February 2021, compared to the same period of 2019. Its domestic sales dropped by 72% to 229,200 barrels. Exports of aviation fuel fell by 57% to 689,100 barrels.
Production of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) declined by 11% to 1,115,000 barrels until the end of February 2021 while its domestic sales rose by 62% to 895,100 barrels. Of the total production, exports of LPG reached 171,200 barrels, a drop by 75%.
As far as petrochemicals are concerned, benzene production increased by 17%, compared to February 2020 to reach 36,300 metric tons whereas its exports stood at 32,800 metric tons, comprising a rise by 5%.
Output of paraxylene stood at 91,100 metric tons whereas its exports reached 97,200 metric tons.
Production of polypropylene stood at 22,700 metric tons, comprising a drop by 49% whilst its domestic sales declined by 33% to stand at 3,900 metric tons. Its exports reached 17,800 metric tons, a fall by 44%.
