The (NCSI) annually releases 7 issues of Community Statistics Series to monitor the indicators statistics of Children, youth, the elderly, social security, women's indicators, disability and marital stability
The initiative is within the framework of NCSI's role in providing accurate and authentic information to the state and to all concerned entities in the Sultanate to be used in decision-making as well as for setting policies and programs.
As for the Children issue of 2019, it indicates that the number of Omani children in the age group of zero to 17 years reached 1,136,925 children till mid-2019, recording 43% of the total population of the Sultanate, while the number of births increased by 0.7% between the period of 2015 and 2019 at a rate of 30.3 live births per each thousands of the population in 2019, while the total fertility rate (in the age group of 15-49 years) reached 3.7 live births per each individual woman.
The marital stability rate in the Sultanate increased during the past five years to reach the rate, which indicates the ratio between divorce and marriage contracts by 20.4% at the end of 2019, compared to 14.1% at the end of 2015.
The number of females in the Sultanate reached 1,318,123 in 2019, recording 49.6% of the Omani population, while the fertility rates for Omani females in the age group of 15-19 years decreased from 14.9 births per every 1,000 women in 2015 to 8.3 births per for every 1,000 women in 2019. The data for the year 2019 indicate that the highest percentage of Omani females in the government sector have a university degree, as it reached 60% of the total Omani females in the government sector.
The number of elderly Omani people who are in the age group of 60 years and above in the Sultanate rose in mid-2018 to reach 154,755 out of the total number of 2,655,144 Omanis, constituting 6% of the total Omani population.
The number of Omani youth in the age group of between 18 and 29 years reached 561,025, recording 21% of the total Omani population, with 50.8% of them being males and 49.2% being females.
The statistics contained the issue of persons with disabilities issued the number of Omanis registered with the Disabled Person Card System in 2019 in the Sultanate reached 29,761 people, which constituted 1.1% of the total Omani population for the year 2019, The same statistics also indicates that of the total number of people with disability in 2019, 65% are males and 35% are females.
As the highest percentage of them was concentrated in North Al Batinah Governorate, possessing at 21.4% of the total, at the governorate level, and the lowest percentage was in the Wusta Governorate.
Of the pension funds, the number of those benefiting by social security in the Sultanate reached 74,029 cases by the end of 2019, recording 5.2% of the of the Omani population. The total disbursed amounts to beneficiaries of the social security system amounted to RO 113,812,073.
