The Supreme National Committee for E-census of population, housing, and establishment 2020 held a meeting this morning at the Ministry of Interior headquarter. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency,Sayyid Hamoud Bin Faisal Al-Busaidi, Minister of interior, and head of the Committee as well Their Excellences committee members.
The Committee reviewed the readiness of the census project and the completed tasks regarding the E-census 2020 ecosystem's trial operation. It was exhibited through running a test census operation and extracting the initial indicators.
The Committee also reviewed the E-Census2020 portal. The portal enables its users to swiftly obtain population, housing and establish statistical information and indicators. It goes through various sets of data and complete statistical information that electronically utilizes the available integrated databases. Such databases can continually be updated and enable the merging and sort out of data in one consistent statistical form.
The Committee praised the efforts exerted to complete E-census 2020 implementation tasks on schedule and enable integration between the E-census Organization and the rest of the project's concerned authorities. Many entities were integrated with E-Census2020, such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific research and innovation, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and investment promotion, and Civil Status administration at Royal Oman Police.
The Committee blessed the initiative for data acquisition of Omanis' at education age not registered in education systems by enabling Communications centers. Also visits to the private sector establishments were launched by the project to complete the residential address for their private sector staff by connecting the addresses to the electricity bill account number.
The Supreme Committee ensured that E-Census would be carried out as planned on the 12th of December 2020. It's worth mentioning that The Sultanate, through E-Census2020, is a leading example of the transition from the Traditional Census to an administrative Census, which is based on the full administrative records of Government and private sector establishments.
