The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) recently issued its annual report of 2019, highlighting the projects and activities carried out by the Centre during the past year 2019. The report also focuses on the projects supervised by NCSI, such as The E-Census of Population, Housing and Establishments project 2020 and the unified addressing project.
The report also includes the second edition of Gulf Data Marathon (Datathon) organized by the NCSI during the period from October 28 to November 3, 2019. A group of attendants from GCC countries participated in the event along with a group of professional cadres working for official Gulf statistical agencies and centers.
The report also highlights the first National Symposium on Geographical Information, held in May 2019, which aimed to introduce the latest trends in businesses using modern technologies in geographic information systems.
The report also touches on the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Sultanate and the State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, in the field of infrastructure for geographic information. The report also highlights the social and economic surveys carried out by NCSI as well as the aims and methods used in their implementation.
The report also focuses on public opinion polls carried out by NCSI, which depend on the sample system under study, in accordance with the internationally approved statistical standards, through telephone calls and email messages.
The report monitored the media activity of NCSI during the year 2019 in terms of news published and videos recorded in the AL- Ma'arifa Studio.
The report also stated that NCSI received about 544 calls requesting for information on its toll-free number (80076274) during the year 2019. In addition, about 1,322 inquiries were answered via NCSI's e-mail info@ncsi.gov.om
The report also includes the publications issued by the NCSI during 2019, with an introductory summary of each issue; the workshops implemented, which reached 18 sessions; and the events organized by NCSI for its employees, such as the competition for selecting a name for one of the applications of NCSI.
