The (NCSI), in cooperation with the Center for Government Communications, started a field poll on January 1, 2020, to measure the extent of the society's awareness about government media messages, which is included in the government communication plan. The poll is scheduled to continue till January 15, 2020.
This poll aims to measure the extent of community awareness about media messages that are broadcasted by government entities. The messages are formulated in line with the aspirations of the society and in response to the stipulations of the government communication plan that aims to coordinate the mass discourse and to provide information and data that the society wishes to know from government organizations. The results of this survey will enhance ways to achieve awareness of the community about these media messages. The survey will also evaluate and strengthen the mechanisms of plans that are expected to be implemented in the future.Prior to the start of the poll, NCSI organized a one-day training workshop in the presence of a number of stakeholders from the Government Communication Services Centre in order to familiarize the researchers with the content of the data collection form. The training program helped in facilitating the process of collecting data during the implementation of the poll.
The poll will include a sample of 2,500 Omani citizen of the age of 18 years and above. The survey samples are distributed proportionately in all governorates of the Sultanate and cover all educational levels, age groups, and gender.The government communication plan is considered an actual interpretation of the government's interest in converting communication systems of governmental entities and the information media to a new stage characterized by accuracy and harmony in all its communication and media activities, with its implementation being supervised by the Government Services Communications Centre.
