The Unified Addressing System Committee (UASC) held on the third meeting this year under the chairmanship of HE Dr Khalifa Al Barwani, Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), at the NCSI`s premises at Ghala. The committee reviewed a number of topics on the agenda, including approving the minutes of the second meeting and following up with decisions execution.
The meeting discussed the progress report of The Unified Addressing System Project, a technical report on the spatial data systems at the concerned municipalities and the procedures and steps taken for implementing the Unified Addressing System by the concerned municipalities. Furthermore, the committee discussed the plan for the handover of The Unified Addressing System data and applications to the concerned municipalities.
The Unified Addressing System project aims to provide a location tag to every building, office or home in the Sultanate. Modeled on the lines of universally popular addressing systems, the project is based on uniform addressing standards and specifications, to make locating places and sites
