The Centre received a delegation of students from the National Private School to directly view the mechanism used for the production of data and indicators and to understand the role of statistics in daily life, on Sunday, February 11.
Various directorates of the NCSI gave a number of visual presentations which contributed in the introduction of the role played by the centre in providing accurate data and indicators for decision-makers and planners. The visiting students also learned the stages of data produced from a simple number to the whole knowledge with the spatial dimension.
The presentations included a practical work on how to benefit from the smart applications of the NCSI in learning, particularly for geographic information. The program also included a tour of the call center to identify the mechanism of work, especially when conducting social and economic survey.
The students also toured the library and learned about the huge archive of information which could be used for the educational purpose. They awareness tour also included making the students aware of the contents of the library which are available online on the website of the NCSI www.ncsi.gov.om
