Some staff members of the Centre participated in a training course 'Heart Saver First Aid CPR & AED Course' which will enable the individuals concerned as the first paramedic to provide emergency first aid in the workplace. The objective of the two-day course from November 7 to 8, imparted by Medical Training Centre, accredited American Heart Association, was to equip individuals designated as the First Aider at work to carry out appropriate first aid in an emergency situation, , according to a release from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Following the course the attendees will be able to manage a casualty who is injured at work, or suffers from a serious illness or those who suddenly develop heart attack or cardiac arrest until the emergency services arrive. After passing the training programme, the staff will be given a two-year universal medical license. The method for training is according to the American Heart Association, which involves a video-based training that helps in delivering the information more accurately. The instructors will help in clarifying doubts and ensure that the candidates implement what they learned properly during the 'Practice while watching' portions of the video, the NCSI press release said.
At the end of the course each candidate will receive HS Provider Manual, One way valve and internationally approved AHA course completion card. The lessons include adult CPR and child CPR, infant CPR, child chocking, First Aid Basics: Duties and Key Step, medical emergencies, injury emergencies environmental emergencies and preventing illness and injuries among other lessons.
