The latest statistics pertaining the project of surveying and inventorying Khareef Salalah visitors 2015, conducted by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), showed that the number of visitors who reached Dhofar Governorate during the period from 21 June till 30 August reached 500 thousand and 928 persons. The figures indicated a huge increase in the number of visitors compared to the figures recorded during the same period of 2014; which reached 415 thousand and 727 persons. These figures are higher than the total number of the Khareef Season visitors recorded in 2008; which reached 450 thousand and 511 persons. According to the statistics, this number is considered to be the highest figure recorded since 2004 when the project of surveying and inventorying Khareef Salalah visitors started. The statistics indicated that Omani citizens came first in terms of the visitors who reached Dhofar according to nationalities by logging about 371 thousand and 65 persons constituting about 74% of the total visitors of the governorate with an increase rate of 17.3% compared to the figures recorded during the last year. The Emirati visitors came second on the list of total visitors and first on the total gulf visitors excluding Omanis. They logged 50 thousand and 612 persons with an increase rate of 6.1% compared to the figures recorded last year. The Saudi visitors came third with 18,133 persons and an increase rate of 45.1% compared to the figures recorded last year. The Bahraini, Qatari and Kuwaiti visitors recorded 3,762 persons; 3,714 persons and 2,686 persons respectively. Asian visitors constituted 8% of Dhofar total visitors by logging about 38 thousand and 543 persons. The visitors coming from other Arab countries reached 9,388 persons; while the European visitors reached 9,388 persons. The visitors coming from Europe reached 1,746 persons; while the visitors coming from the Americas reached 775 persons. The visitors coming from African countries and Oceania reached 278 and 171 persons respectively. NCSI's statistics showed that the growth rate recorded in the Khareef visitors in general reached 21%; compared to the figures recorded during the same period last year. It also showed that 85% of the visitors came to the governorate through land ports; compared to the visitors coming on board of air flights who constituted 15% of the total visitors. It is worth noting that the process of gathering the information from the Khareef Season's visitors continues all around the clock till the twenty first of next September. Fifty four male and female researchers take part in this survey.
