The total production of the Sultanate in the electricity and water sector recorded a significant increase at the end of last June. The total Omani production of electricity increased to more than 15.29 thousand GW logging a 13.8% increase compared to the production recorded in 2014. The same applies to the water sector in which the production grew to exceed 106.6 million cubic meters with an increase of 10.6%. The latest statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the total Omani production of electricity till the end of last June reached 15 thousand and 293.6 GW per hour compared to the production recorded in the same period of 2014; which reached 13 thousand and 436.3 GW per hour with an increase rate of 13.8%. The Total Electricity Production in Al-Batinah North and South; in addition to Al-Dhahirah Governorates reached 7 thousand and 687.1 GW per hour. It is the highest percentage recorded at the governorates' level logging an increase of 3.2% compared to the figures recorded during the same period of 2014 during which the three mentioned governorates produced 7 thousand and 448.9 GW per hour. Al-Sharqiyah North and South Governorates recorded the biggest rate in the production level increase compared to the levels recorded during 2014. The increase level in these two governorates reached 164.3%. The total production till last June reached two thousand and 442.6 GW per hour compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2014; which reached 924.1 GW per hour. The total electricity production in Muscat Governorate reached two thousand and 720.9 GW per hour with a decrease rate of 6.5% compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2014; which reached two thousand and 910.6 GW per hour. The net Omani electricity production till the end of last December reached 14 thousand and 812.7 GW per hour; compared to the figures recorded during the same period of 2014; which reached 12 thousand and 909.4 GW per hour with an increase rate of 14.7%. This production includes the procurements of Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) and the procurements of the Rural Areas Electricity Company. The statistics issued by the NCSI indicated that the biggest quantity of electricity net production was recorded in Al-Batinah North and South; in addition to Al-Dhahirah governorates. The net production recorded in these governorates at the end of last June reached 7 thousand and 600 GW per hour compared to the net production recorded during the same period of 2014; which reached 7 thousand and 139.1 GW per hour with an increasing rate of 3.4%. On the other hand, the Sultanate's production of water till the end of last April reached 106 million, 617 thousand and 900 cubic meters with an increase of 10.6% compared to the water production recorded during the same period of 2014; which reached 96 million, 421 thousand and 700 cubic meters. The water production in Muscat Governorate decreased with 5.6% to reach 27 million, 291 thousand and 700 cubic meters compared to the production recorded during the same period of 2014; which reached 28 million, 919 thousand and 200 cubic meters.
