Justice institution is one of the public facilities that received attentions of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said –May Allah protect him, and considered as one of the pillars and objectives of the Blessed Renaissance.  Justice is a basic criterion used to measure nation's civilization and advancement. It is noticeable that the role of the Judicial authorities is no longer limited to decide on disputes between the two parties, it has played a vital role in achievement of the overall development, whereas the relationship between the judiciary and development has become one of the topics that occupy the attention of a large group of Economists, law and sociology, and others interested in development in general.

The National Center for Statistics and Information has issued Courts Statistics Bulletin in 2016 which includes tables and data pertinent to the number of lawsuits filed by month and type of the circuit and verdict, whether a primary or appeal and verdicts in the courts of appeal depending on the type of the circuit at the level of sultanate and other data related to courts statistics.
