The Sultanate of Oman recorded a fall in the production of standard grade petrol (M-91) by Omani refineries at the end of March 2021 by 25%, with the output falling to 2,252 billion barrels compared to 3,017 billion barrels produced in 2020.
The output of super grade petrol (M-95) reached 4,348 billion barrels until the end of March 2021, according to data released by (NCSI).
Gas oil (diesel) output rose by 25% to 9,394 billion barrels, while Aviation Fuel Oil production fell by 56% to 1,443 billion barrels at the end of March 2021 over the same period of 2020. Production of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) fell by 11% to 1,672 billion barrels during the period under review.
Of the total production of M-91 grade petrol (which is the cheapest petrol available in the market), 2,020 billion barrels were sold in the domestic market.
Domestic sales of M-95 grade petrol reached 3,359 billion barrels, while those of gas oil (diesel) within the country reached 3,224 billion barrels during the three-month period of 2021. Domestic sales of aviation fuel oil and LPG fall by 7% and 69% to reach at 3,224 million barrels and 335 million barrels in March 2021, respectively.
As far as petrochemicals are concerned, production of polypropylene by OQ in March 2021 was 33 tons, while output of paraxylene and benzene was 135 tons and 47 tons, respectively.
Further, Omani refineries exported 50 tons of benzene in the first three months of 2021, while exports of paraxylene and polypropylene stood at 139 tons and 25 tons, respectively.
