The total revenue of Omani hotels in the three-to-five-star category fell by 56.6% to OMR61,386 million until the end of August 2020 compared to OMR141,393 million for the same period of the previous year.

However, hotel occupancy rates fell by 47.1% to reach 27.5% until the end of August 2020 against 51.9% for the same period of 2019, according the latest monthly statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Meanwhile, the total number of guests in Omani hotels fell by 56.6% in the first 8 months of 2020, reaching 491,025 guests from 1,131,581 million guests for the same period of 2019.

Among the nationalities, Omanis constituted the maximum number of visitors, reaching 204,247. This was followed by 159,448 European guests and 41,026 Asian tourists until the end of August 2020, the data released by NCSI revealed.

There was an overall drop in the number of guests of all nationalities until the end of August 2020, with American guests and GCC guests falling by 64.7% and 76.2% to reach 15,067 and 33,185 guests, respectively.

There was also a drop in the number of African, Oceanian and other Arab guests by 61.6%, 53.1% and 69.4% to reach 3,003. 4,761, and 15,051 guests, respectively.

Omani hotels received 1.77 million guests and the hotels generated a total revenue of OMR229.5 million in 2019.
