The NCSI presented a number of lectures as part of "Ehtesab" contest organized by the Mathematics and Statistics Group of Sultan Qaboos University's Faculty of Science for students. These lectures dealt with statistical data to increase knowledge and information.
NCSI presented a lecture on correction and compilation of data from the annual economic survey, which is provided for the preparation of national accounts and various economic indicators. The survey covers all major establishments and a sample of small enterprises too.
Another lecture presented by the NCSI was on the indicators of sustainable development and efforts of the centre, in cooperation with the relevant government organisations, for providing Sultanate's statistics related to these objectives. The indicators are divided according to sectors. There are separate working groups for each indicators, namely education, health indicators, labour, environment, energy, agriculture, water, industry, transport, communication, scientific research and culture sectors.
The third lecture dealt with the analysis of the economic situation in the Sultanate, through a number of economic indicators such as GDP, exports, imports and other indicators.
The 'Calculus' contest for students and those interested in statistics in all the colleges and universities of the Sultanate was aimed at producing systematic statistical studies prepared with scientific approach, in order to increase the spirit of competition among students of institutions of higher education.
