5.961 new employees were recruited in 2015 in the civil service. The educational services and education-related supporting services accounted for the largest number of new employees with 2641. Most of the new employees were with university degrees.
The data from the (NCSI) pointed out that the number of new employees in craft and public services jobs amounted to 886 employees, in medicine, public health and their supporting services 866 employees, administrative jobs and its supporting jobs 382 employees, engineering and its supporting jobs 268 employees, jobs relating to culture, media and their supporting jobs 170 employees, social, youth and sports services 87 employees, in agriculture and fisheries and their supporting jobs 71 employees, arts and tourism 59 employees, in law and Justice 51 employees, in the geological, physical and chemical research 25 employees, in supervisory and leadership 19 employees, advisers and experts 10 employees, in the religious jobs and their supporting jobs 8 employees, senior management, environment and nature conservation 4 employees, and two new employees in in diplomatic jobs. Among the new appointees in the civil service 3620 had college education, 725 diploma holders, 645 below general education diploma, 542 general diploma holders and 429 postgraduates.
It is worth mentioning that the number of female new appointees in 2015 amounted to 3,119 and male appointees amounted to 2,842. New Omani appointees amounted to 3,785, in comparison to 1,566 non-Omani appointees.
