HE Sultan bin Salem bin Said Al-Habsi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) and Board Chairman of the (NCSI), received, today morning, a delegation from the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics that visits the Sultanate currently, at his office in the NCSI at Ghala. The meeting was attended by HE Barbara Joziasse, Ambassador of the Netherlands at the Sultanate and HE Dr. Khalifa bin Abdullah Al-Barwani, Chief Executive Officer of the NCSI. This visit is expected to boost the good relations between the two friendly countries. During the meeting, the aspects of joint cooperation were discussed in various economic and social fields. The Sultanate, represented by the NCSI, has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Kingdom of Netherlands, represented by the Central Bureau of Statistics to promote the collaboration between the two friendly countries. The MOU was signed by HE Dr. Khalifa bin Abdullah Al-Barwani, CEO of the NCSI, on behalf of the Sultanate; while it was signed by HE Tjark Tjin-A-Tsoi, Director General of the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics. It focuses on the ways of collaboration in many matters including the transformation from traditional censuses to the censuses based on commercial records. The memorandum addresses also how to develop and enforce the national accounts system. It also aims to develop the logistic statistics and build capacities in the field of statistics and information. The NCSI is interested in collaborating with the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics because it is the official entity responsible for providing official national statistics in the Kingdom of Netherlands for the decision making and scientific research purposes. In addition, it collects and publishes statistics at the European Union Level. It is worth noting that the Dutch delegation visits the Sultanate in a two-day official visit. During such visit, the delegation will meet many officials to be identified with the mechanism of statistical work and the role played by the NCSI in promoting the statistical knowledge and developing the capacities of employees working in the statistical field inside various state institutions that are relevant to statistical work.
