The total number of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) registered with the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Riyada) at the end of November 2019 was 42,163, which is a rise of 14.5% compared to the same period of 2018, according to the data released by the National Centre for Statistics and information (NCSI).
Among the governorates, Muscat topped the list with 31% SMEs registered till the end of November 2019, followed by Al-Batinah North with 15%, Ad-Dakhliyah with 12%, Dhofar with 8% and the rest of governorates at 34%. The Governorate of Muscat had 14,109 SMEs registered at the end of November 2019, followed by Al Batinah North with 6,644, Ad-Dakhliyah with 5,370, Dhofar with 3,545, Al Batinah South with 3,121, and Ash-Sharqiah North with 2,895 SMEs registered. This was followed by Adh-Dhahirah with 2,539 SMEs, Ash-Sharqiah South with 2,426 SMEs, and Al Buraymi with 887 SMEs registered.Al Wusta had 463 SMEs registered and Musandam had 164 SMEs registered, which was the lowest among governorates registered at the end of November 2019.
The increase in the total number of small and medium enterprises by the end of November 2019 compared to November 2018 was 14.5%.
