The National Competitiveness Committee (NCC) recently held its first meeting for the year 2019 under the chairmanship of His Excellency His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Masood bin Ali Al Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Planning and Chairman of the National Competitiveness Committee.
The meeting, which took place at the Head office of (NCSI) in Ghala, was also attended by His Excellency Sheikh Nasser al-Maawali, Chairman of SAI, HE Dr. Abdel Moneim Bin Mansour Al- Hassani, Minister of Information and HE Dr. Khalifa Bin Abdullah Al-Barwani, CEO of the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
A number of topics of the meeting agenda were discussed, including the challenges faced by the NCO in enhancing the general competitiveness of the Sultanate, particularly in terms of improving the country's international ranking in the competitiveness indicators and reports; the ease of doing business index; the corruption perception index; as well as ways to tackle such challenges.The discussion also covered other topics, including the logo and website of NCO, and highlighted the detailed information of the Corruption Perceptions Report, which was released last Tuesday. It also reviewed the results achieved by the Sultanate in this report and the mechanism to improve the Sultanate's ranking in this field. The meeting also discussed ways to improve the country's ranking in international indicators. The concerned departments in various governmental entities shall improve their services associated with these indicators, in order to facilitate and speed up the procedures of the services, which are being provided by the governmental and private sectors and will which contribute to improving the business environment in the Sultanate.
The Committee also reviewed the decisions taken at its second meeting in 2018 and the procedures executed during the same. Appropriate decisions were taken regarding topics of this year meeting's agenda.
