The (NCSI) gave a presentation titled “Omani women: partnership and development” on the occasion of Omani Women's Day on 17th October.
The NCSI presentation was given at a function organized by the Ministry of Social Development to mark Omani Women's Day.
The presentation highlighted various key statistics that represented the commendable status enjoyed by Omani women under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.
Statistics showed that as many as 41% of employees in the public sector are females, while 89% of workers employed in various craft industries are women.
The presentation also touched on the subject of social security. Women constituted 58% of those registered under the Social Security in 2015. Further, the percentage of females enrolled last year at the rehabilitation and vocational centres under the Ministry of Social Development stood at 45%.
The NCSI presentation included other significant statistical indicators such as land distribution pertaining to women.
The NCSI’s participation in Omani Women’s Day celebrations was in line with the Centre’s collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development aimed at enhancing statistical knowledge and awareness about social development indicators in the Sultanate.
