The number of visitors to Salalah until 20 august surged by a whopping 22.6% compared with figures for the same period last year, according to statistics released by the (NCSI). Total visitors rose to 576,844 as of 20 august, from 470,356 visitors during the comparable period last year.
NCSI statistics shows that as many as 107,114 visitors reached Salalah by air as against 469,730 who arrived by road. Giving a break-up of the number of visitors by air, the report says the majority of them – numbering 70,216-- arrived on domestic flights, while international carriers brought in 36,898 visitors.
Significantly, during the period, visitors from the Sultanate registered a significant growth of 22.3% with their numbers reaching 429,403, compared with last year’s 348,362 inland visitors. Khareef visitors from the GCC (including Oman) swelled in numbers by 23.7% to touch 523,284 as against 422,967 visitors last year. There has been a 40.9% rise in the number of visitors from other Arab countries at 11,945, as against 8,477 recorded last year during the period.
