      Overall Economy:Current expenditure increased by 12.0% by the end of May 2014, when compared with the same period in 2013       Oil and Gas Indicators: Total net oil revenue decreased by 2.6% by the end of May 2014, when compared with the same period in 2013.       Foreign Trade Indicators: The total value of merchandise imports recorded in March 2014 decreased by 8.1% compared with the same period in 2013.       Prices and market indicators: Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices increased by 2,2% in June 2014, when compared with the same period in 2013.       Traffic indicators Number of road accidents registered by the end of June 2014 decreased by 32.8% compared with the same period in 2013       Population Indicators:Number of deaths among Omanis decreases by 30.3% by the end of May 2014 compared with the same period in 2013.       Tourism Indicators:Total number of Omani guests in 4 & 5 star hotels increase by 14.1% by the end of June 2014 compared with the same period in 2013.       Communication Indicators: Number of internet subscribers by the end of June 2014 stood at 171.7 thousand.       Transportation Indicators: Total cargo handled at Sultan Qaboos Port by the end of June 2014 increases by 2.0% compared with the same period in 2013.      
Road Accidents Decline by 32,8% in first half of 2014

The total number of road accidents over a 6-month period, through to June 2014, dropped by 32,8 % according to the latest report by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI). The number of registered accidents stood at 2909 in comparison to 4332 accidents over the same period last year.

4,430,676 Passengers Travel via Muscat International Airport through June 2014

Air traffic movement at Muscat International Airport by the end of the first half 2014 witnessed an increase in the total number of flights and passengers. The total number of flights increased by 1.3% standing at 40,204 flights by the end of June 2014 compared to 39,695 flights in the same period last year. The total number of passengers passing through Muscat International Airport increased by 7.5% over the first half of 2014, reaching 4,430,676 passengers compared to 4,122,548 passengers in the same period last year. The number of Omanis working in the private sector who are insured and active increased by 4.4% to the end of Q2 2014, totaling some 189,931 employees, compared with 181,860 employees recorded working in the private sector at the end of 2013.

Foreign Investment Survey:
Investment , in general , is an important variable in determining the economic status of any country in the short- term and a growth mover in the long term . Foreign investment has become the first growth mechanism in the global economy today . In this context , the Center , in coordination with the Central Bank , conducts foreign investment survey which includes all enterprises of foreign direct investment , and all enterprises of portfolio listed at Muscat Securities Market and all enterprises of other investment which include the 100% Omani establishments that have abroad transactions in form of loans , investments or other.
Hotel Survey:
Hotels survey is performed on an annual , quarterly and monthly basis . The survey, which is performed by the National Center for Statistics & Information in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism , aims to provide important data for preparation of the national accounts of hotels? activity and the accounts of the tourism . Through the survey many and varied data are collected regarding the size of revenue , expenditure , employment , salaries and wages ; in addition to data on visitors, numbers and occupancy rate . The annual and quarterly surveys include all hotels, while the monthly survey covers Five- and Four-Stars hotels .
PPI Survey:
PPI survey is performed on quarterly basis. The survey, which is performed by the National Center for Statistics & Information aims to prepare the inflation of index for the prices of goods produced. It is also used to prepare statistics of GDP at constant prices. The prices are collected for goods which entering local market and export commodities from 157 different establishments covering the following three main sectors: Mining (C), Manufacturing (D), Electricity and Water (E).
Survey Request Management:
The Statistical Advisory Committee which was formed under the jurisdiction of Ministry of National Economy and which has been entrusted by the statistical law to study, approve and advise on any statistical survey or Study undertaken by Ministries, Government Institutions or Private Entities, request any government or Private Organization which desire to conduct a statistical Survey/Study to register in Mone Survey Request Management and forward the information of Surveys/Studies by completing the request form. The dully completed forms should be submitted for the evaluation. This dosen't include the specialized surveys and non statistical surveys executed by specific entities.
